Principal's Message

Kristi McMurtry, Principal
Welcome to the Winding Creek webpage! We will make every effort to keep this page updated and full of current information so it's a resource you can depend on throughout the school year. It is with great enthusiasm that I invite you to learn more about our amazing school community. The Moore School District is known for its high standards and academic excellence. It is a privilege to contribute to one of Oklahoma's most respected school districts and to the Winding Creek community.
To introduce myself, I would like to share some of my educational and professional background with you and tell you a bit about myself. I attended elementary school at Winding Creek and graduated from Moore High School. After graduation, I attended the University of Central Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I was in the classroom for 20 years and taught first, second, third, and sixth grade. While teaching, I returned to school at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where I earned my Master’s in Elementary Administration. Following my Master's program, I served as an Assistant Principal for 3 years, two of those at Winding Creek. This is my fourth year as head principal at Winding Creek.
Outside of school, I am a wife to Sean and a mom to two boys, Nicholas, a recent graduate of OU, and Nathan who is a freshman at OU. We have a Chihuahua named Sophie. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, taking walks, archery, and watching movies.
As the leader of our school, I take great pride in getting to know each child and their families. I strive to visit every classroom each day working alongside our teachers to make sure they have every resource necessary to help your child succeed in school.
I strongly encourage you to be an active part of your child's education. I believe we are stronger together as we endeavor to provide a superior educational experience for our Wildcats. Please consider joining PTA. This partnership is vital in allowing us to provide a variety of fun experiences for our students and to support the academic endeavors of our teachers and staff.
If I can be of assistance to you at any time throughout the school year, please feel free to contact me at 735-4510 or schedule an appointment through my secretary so I can give you the time you deserve. I can also be reached at kristimcmurtry@mooreschools.com.
I am looking forward to a very successful year together!
With Wildcat Pride,
Kristi McMurtry, M. Ed
